BS8555 Seren Scheme Environmental Management System. This British Standard for Environmental Management is recognised throughout the UK and recommended by UK & regional Governments, the Environment Agency, Defra and numerous large and small companies. It is in fact a combination of three Standards; ISO 14001, EMAS and elements of ISO 14031 split into 6 phases, the requirements of Phase 5 and 6 exceed the requirements of ISO 14001. Oakbourne developed an Environmental Management System with the help of the Building Safety Group in November 2012 which was then independently inspected and audited by Tarian Inspection Services in July 2013 and achieved Phase 3 Certification. Since then the system has been further developed and in January 2015 was again inspected by Tarian Inspection Services and achieved Phase 5 Certification. This is a very high level of certification for a business of our size and resources to achieve. Click here for a copy of our certificate of environmental management. Please visit www.tarian.org for more information on BS8555 and the inspection scheme.
We’re actively involved in the Supply Chain Sustainability School, an online learning resource designed to help the construction sector improve its knowledge of sustainability. The school was founded by many of the industry’s leading contractors and material suppliers together with the Construction Industry Training Board. Through the school a bespoke action plan is developed for our business to become more sustainable in its activities. We have been members since September 2012 and through our action plan have progressed to Silver Member status. Please visit www.supplychainschool.co.uk for more information.
